QUESTION 1

What is your favourite colour & why?

It has to be pink! I have tried my best to grow up and move away from it, but pink just feels fun and uplifting to me. Pink doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s warm and vibrant. I love Little Twin Stars and Hello Kitty and those simple cartoon characters still warm my heart and make me smile. That’s what pink does for me.

QUESTION 2

Congratulations on the release of your new book, 'Conscious Grief'. Can you share what inspired you to write this book?

It was a process of one thing leading to another. I started an author course that set me on a trail. It took a lot of determination to overcome imposter syndrome and a great deal of procrastination tactics.

Approaching my 42nd Birthday the awareness dropped in that I was the age when my father died.

My father left a legacy, 3 children and a successful business that touched the lives of many people. This gave me a sense of urgency.

If I died tomorrow, my book could live on and continue to help people after I was gone.

So I guess I can say, my father inspired me! His life and his death.

QUESTION 3

I thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration in co-creating your beautiful home. What aspects of your space give you that genuine feeling of being at home?

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE my home Natalie! I could never have created something so beautiful without your expertise. The colours and the warmth of the place make it homely. I love the feel of the soft cork floor and the silky carpets in the bedrooms. I never feel cold and that’s important to me.

I absolutely ADORE the curtains all in fabrics sourced by you. The curtains are so luxurious the way we have them covering the whole wall in the bedrooms. It adds warmth, drama and practicality (keeps the cold out and the London lights or sunrise.) What more can we ask for?!

The Abaca wallpaper in the living room lifts the space in the most magical way. I lived without the wallpaper for a couple of months while we were waiting for it to be delivered. The walls were painted yellow. I thought, well its similar to the wallpaper? Absolutely not! That wallpaper transformed the room.

I would never have understood the textures and tones without your help. That’s what working with an expert does. It elevates everything.

Just the other day someone commented on the curves on each of the doors and the wardrobes in the bedroom. All your designs - unique and bespoke. My home feels like a work of art. I walk past the window’s of estate agents and see the same beige generic interiors and think isn’t it sad people don’t express themselves more in their homes? This is where we spend most of our time, make it a canvas of your personality.

I feel so happy here and very grateful to have collaborated with you.

The last thing I will say is the view. Having a view in London makes me feel a spaciousness which I have not experienced before. I may not venture as far as I can see most of the time, but I think, wow, London you are just beautiful, I love you! London will always be home.

QUESTION 4

Where do you go for / what do you do for inspiration?

Despite London always being home, being on an aeroplane is my ultimate happy place. I love to travel. Let’s be honest, the weather in this county drives us to travel.

I find inspiration in places I have stayed. Homes I have lived in and other people’s homes I have stayed in.

I would much rather flick through an interior design magazine than a fashion one.

I use Instagram and Pinterest for ideas.

QUESTION 5

Do you have a cherished object you would never part with? What is it & why?

This was a hard question for me to answer. Firstly, I have a horrible habit of losing things and secondly, I have always tried to practice nonattachment.

I remember someone saying to me once, ‘never own anything that own’s you.’ That really struck me. Expensive things can own us.

Due to my parents dying early in my life, I never wanted to place too much emphasis on material objects. What was the point if we are all going to die one day? In more recent years, I relate more to how material objects do hold significance and meaning.

During my years selling second hand designer clothes, I bought a 90’s Rolex in silver with a pale pink face. I temporarily lost it last year (my bad habit) and felt sick about it for months. I put ‘Rolex’ on my 2023 vision board in hope I would find it and I did! It was in a zipper pocket of a weekend travel bag.

I was so relieved. I would be very sad to lose that watch. I love the design and it reminds me of a specific chapter in my life which taught me a great deal.
