Knightsbridge Rocks is #OhSoNatalie

Knightsbridge Rocks offers a collection of vintage and contemporary fine jewellery, handpicked and created by Katie Kelly and Brenda Tuohy. Their pieces feel timeless yet fresh—bold, otherworldly, and effortlessly statement-making. I love how each design carries the spirit of cherished heirlooms, reimagined for today.

Emerald green without a doubt. Emeralds come in so many hues from light to deep and dark green. Each one brings its own of shade of magic. Purple is also a favourite, I love amethysts with their dark drama and historical connections to royalty and religion. The best ones play beautifully with the light when the wearer moves making them totally mesmeric. I would have to choose pink for roses and interior accents.

Creating the colour combos for our Roma collection was a lot of fun but since we work with an Italian jeweller friend on the collection it often poses challenges translating exactly the colours we want for the enamel. Once I had to send a Nike Jordan Air trainer with a burgundy tick to make sure we got the perfect shade of enamel to pair with the stones.

QUESTION 1

What is your favourite colour & why?

Using recycled gold and repurposed gemstones to conjure up something new, inspired by the old but perfectly formed jewels of the past. This idea is the foundation of the Knightsbridge Rocks Originals collections.

I recently found a costume ring belonging to my mother I want to recreate, this time using precious materials and repurposed gemstones. The design lends itself to lots of incarnations using different coloured recycled golds and stone combinations.

Working in jewellery is a continuous learning process. A quest to understand the importance of design movements and makers. I just returned from Istanbul where I saw the delicate balance of engineering in a Byzantine necklace in the Grand Bazaar. It made use of a mix of physics and geometry to form an incredible eye catching drape.

In 2025 we will also be bringing Knightsbridge Rocks London to more people around the UK with Pop Ups and trunk shows in Surrey, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire so far. We will as ever, be showcasing our vintage collections in a number of exciting locations worldwide as well as crossing the globe to source special and unusual treasures for our customers.

QUESTION 2

What are you working on at the moment that you find exciting?

QUESTION 3

I love how you offer your beautiful vintage found jewellery and new pieces. How did that come about?

As Knightsbridge neighbours and firm friends Brenda and I share a love of beautiful jewellery and often found ourselves at auction house previews having to pick just one piece from the lot selection to bid on when we could easily have chosen ten. The idea for Knightsbridge Rocks London came to light when we realised we not only enjoyed sourcing jewellery but that we were able to pick investment pieces our friends admired and ones which frequently became talking points at parties.

Twelve years ago we decided to make a business out of handpicking, rare, unique and interesting pieces of fine vintage jewellery that you wouldn’t find in Harrods and certainly not at the prices we wanted to pay for fabulous forever jewels. What we can’t source we create using recycled gold and as they say, the rest is history.

Inspiration is everywhere in London from the streets to the galleries, but design, fashion, art, travel, interiors, hotels and architecture all have an impact.

I live so close to the V & A that just walking through it to go for coffee in the courtyard is an immersive experience.

Ultimately it’s the women around us that spark the most interest and drive us to find pieces that would resonate positively with them.

Our fabulously stylish clients and customers, sisters (I have 3 older sisters) and our sophisticated, fashion savvy girlfriend’s are all a source of creative inspiration. And of course you could not work with Brenda and be immune to her consistently spot on sartorial aesthetic and her cultural and creative life force.

QUESTION 4

Where do you go for / what do you do for inspiration?

I couldn’t imagine letting go of a Waterford glass chandelier that came from my parents home in Dublin. There are artworks that were gifts from artist friends and paintings from family that I cherish but in a fire I would not be leaving without my engagement ring which was bought at auction in Bonham’s Bond Street 24 years ago and is original 1920’s Art Deco.

QUESTION 5

Do you have a cherished object you would never part with? What is it & why?
