Our monthly newsletter sharing Natalie’s favourite brands, the people behind them, and ideas about how we can go that little bit further with our creativity.

October in London is synonymous with art for me, and one of my favorite must-see galleries is Canopy Collections, founded by Louise Chignac and Cécile Ganansia. With the exciting launch of their new headquarters in Bloomsbury, it’s now even easier to explore their stunning collection of contemporary works.

Canopy Collections is #OhSoNatalie

Blue, forever. Because it speaks of the Mediterranean Sea where I spent my summer holidays as a child; Picasso’s iconic Blue Period; denim jeans; our small planet within the vast universe; Yves Klein’s IKB; the lapis lazuli stone... It’s a colour that speaks of joy and nostalgia at the same time, and without a doubt the world’s favourite colour too.

QUESTION 1

What is your favourite colour & why?

We just inaugurated Canopy Collections HQ in Bloomsbury with an exhibition of unique works on paper by the Mexican artist duo Celeste, whom we first introduced to Europe back in 2022. The artists also have an exhibition at the Royal Society of Sculptors in South Kensington, where they are showing an immersive installation titled Melons Covered in Willow Leaves that was specifically created for the institution. The work is spectacular! A dynamic spiral moves throughout the composition, circling, enveloping and dividing the space, to symbolise the non-linear passage of time. It’s been an absolute joy working with the artists on developing this new work to mark their four years of evolution into a duo, as well as contributing to getting their practice known by the London art audience.

QUESTION 2

What are you working on at the moment that you find exciting?

QUESTION 3

You just launched your new HQ in Bloomsbury this month. What was it about the location and space you felt worked well for your business?

Bloomsbury is a very central location that is mostly known for its cultural landmarks, such as the British Museum, the Sir John Soane’s Museum and some of the oldest squares in London. It’s also a historical area, which was once home to the Bloomsbury Group, including figures such as Virginia Wolf, Vanessa Bell and E. M. Foster. There is a growing contemporary art scene with both emerging and established galleries, which is an exciting community to have around. Our space is on the ground floor in a listed building on Bloomsbury Square. It’s a beautiful room with period features, where we can host our programme of exhibitions and also welcome clients for private viewings.

QUESTION 4

Where do you go for / what do you do for inspiration?

I’ve always found nature inspiring, something to celebrate more than anything else. On weekends, you’ll find me gardening at my allotment in North London, growing flowers and vegetables with my children running around the place. It’s become my happy place, a sanctuary that is just at the end of my street where I can disconnect from my otherwise busy city life.

I have a lot of artworks on my walls at home. It would be difficult to pick one in particular, as they all have a sentimental meaning to me… It would feel like choosing between my children – impossible!

QUESTION 5

Do you have a cherished object you would never part with? What is it & why?
